Liu squeaks out a victory in Shanghai

The Shanghai Golden Grand Prix’s second running was a great success, and Liu Xiang delivered for the home fans - but not without just a bit of nervous-making. A fast starter’s gun led to a very slow start for Liu, and it took most of the race for him to catch up to American Allen Johnson. In the end, Liu won it with two one-hundredths of a second to spare. The IAAF has the story (once again, written by yours truly, with reporting assistance from Arthur Kao, who was fortunate to be at the meet live in Shanghai).
