Microcredit Follow Up

Aggregated Source: China Hearsay
October 27, 2006|

Today is follow-up day. I recently posted on this subject because a lot of articles had been written about Grameen Bank and the possibility of extending this model to China. Grameen's founder, Muhammad Yunnus, won this year's Nobel Peace Prize, so the papers loved it.

Another one today in Xinhua, on the occasion of the 2006 China Banking Association-Citigroup Micro-entrepreneurship Awards Ceremony. The article contains more details on what the problems are over here, it's rather critical for a Xinhua piece, with extending microcredit and what should be done in the future.
