RFID Opportunity For Companies In Shanghai

You’d figure that with all the talk about RFID in China, the biggest and best exhibitions and conventions would have already implemented RFID name badges. Seems not so.

I spent the last 2 days at CITM (China International Travel Mart), the biggest and most important tourism/hospitality/travel expo in China each year. We had a booth (still do until tomorrow at Booth #4H09) for one of BDL Media’s other publications–the monthly print magazine China Hospitality News.

Extra exhibitor badges cost RMB500, but you could buy photocopied badges outside the venue in Shanghai for only RMB50. Why was counterfeiting and reselling so easy? Because the badges were simple laminated paper, circa 1995. No electronic tags, no gizmos.

If you are an RFID company, contact CITM and get them to use your service next year.
