Imagethief will shortly start a three-month cross-assignment at his company's Shanghai office. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it'll be fun to spend an extended period of time in Shanghai and get to know the city a little bit better. Plus, I always like a new professional challenge. On the other hand, I like Beijing a lot and it's taken me two years and change to construct a meaningful social life here. My social life in Shanghai is likely to revolve largely around the office and cable TV (and the one or two unfortunate souls I do know in Shanghai, who can expect to find me at their doorsteps most weekends).

It'll probably give be some rich new blogging material as well of course. So if nothing else, the benefits will accrue to you, dear reader. Assuming I have time to write.
