Strictly for my Niggaz

In my mind, having grown up what would now be considered the era of classic rap (Afrika Bombatta, Sugar Hill Gang, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature) most contemporary rap/hip-hop just isn’tmuch good. As I have posted in the past, this is no where more true then in the clubs and discos of China. Until today, I have never been able to provide an example what I mean to those interested but have yet to experience Chinese nightlife/party scene. Now, through the wonder of the Internet I can give all those “doubters” a glance into what I’m talking about. Anyway, apologies to the blogger that posted this video for “biting” your IPRs (and a double sorry if the rappers in the vid are “your boyz” although I got to give the brutha rapping in Chinese some props for pulling that off) but I do think the video provides a perfect example of all that is bad about Chinese rap (namely: no creativity…but rather a simple grafting of what most people think urban ethnic American culture is onto a Chinese model that just oesn’t work.) I mean how would it look if you combined Chinese opera with some boyz from the hood.
