Good Morning Teacher

Amid the hoopla, Meijie insisted that the last thing Chinese students or parents needed was to be encouraged in their blind reverence for an academic brand name, much less be told there was some new formula to follow and competitive frenzy to join. (free registration is required)

Very interesting article that chimes true on so many levels especially for anyone that has spent time (as a student or teacher) inside the Chinese educational system. Still, the possibilities for reform seem, at this point in time, very slim. Competition is only going to increase for limited spots in work and academia…accordingly the children, parents and schools will, in my opinion, only become more stratified and therefore more pressurized environments. The end result will be less quality being taught from less qualified teachers and more students (especially those in the countryside) giving up getting an education.

Can China Re-educate Its Education System?
