No Online Tax Filing For Overseas Americans

Just filed my U.S. taxes and sent them by Fedex to the USA. Overseas filers can not take advantage of the e-filing system–bummer.

There is an automatic extension deadline to June 15 for US citizens and resident aliens whose tax home is overseas. No extension request is necessary to file at this date, and no penalty will be assessed on taxes due if paid by this date. However, interest will be charged on taxes not paid by April 15. If you have been living overseas for at least a year, this is the deadline you will normally need to observe.

Not only do I need to pay Chinese taxes, I have to pay US taxes too–even though I haven't lived there in over a decade. Canadians and Brits don't have this problem. Didn't the Boston Tea Party start over excessive taxation?
