Movable Type, the platform on which this blog used to be running, has announced The Movable Type Open Source Project to "produce an open souce version of the Movable Type Publishing Platform that will form the core of all other Movable Type products."

They aim for Q3 2007 for the GPL-licensed version, but I'm not so sure it will aid them in their battle with WordPress, on which this blog now rests. Movable Type was always very cumbersome with its caching and Perl. WordPress has always been a lot more graceful, with better support, and an overall better number of tools for Chinese-language services.  WordPress did have some major load problems with PHP/MySQL, but with the release of 2.2, this seems to have generally subsided.
