Stealing a girl's bank card and drawing down her own bank account so you can pretend to be rich in order to date her. From the Shanghai Daily:

Zhang was reported to have embezzled at least 50,000 yuan (US$6,562) from his girlfriend and most of the money was used to buy her gifts to please her.

Zhang had to behave like a rich man though he had been jobless since graduation from university.

"He bought me luxurious clothes and shoes and a 24K gold ring," Jin said. What she didn't realize was that it was actually she who was paying the bill.

While I admire the creativity and boggle at the philosophical implications, I also note a degree of strategic weakness in Zhang's plan. From what Imagethief can see there are only two possible outcomes:

• She catches him, dumps him and prosecutes him (which is what happened)
  
• She runs out of money, he's suddenly poor again, and she dumps him.

Note how neither of these leads to living happily ever after or even to getting laid on a consistent basis. Perhaps he should have embezzled the money and headed straight for the KTV lounge.
