PCs for Farmers
Aggregated Source: China HearsaySmall question re: this item in Shanghai Daily:
LENOVO Group Ltd said today it will sell a basic personal computer aimed at China’s vast but poor rural market and priced as low as US$199.
Not the first time this idea has been tried, and failed, but that’s not my question. I assume that there is not much for these users to do with these PCs unless they can get online, yes? Is the rural IT infrastructure here capable of offering these users decent dial-up service? I question whether dial-up suffices at all these days, but I suppose it’s better than nothing.
If they can’t get online, this ain’t gonna work.
Not to put them on the spot or anything, but I bet Danny or Fons can help me out with this.
