No More Excuses

So a couple days ago I was shamed, or perhaps challenged, to start blogging again more frequently. Fair enough, but as an explanation (not an excuse - heaven forfend), a quick summary of my activities over the past two weeks.

As I wrote about recently, I started a new job in Beijing, with a foreign law firm this time.  Well, I haven’t had to go through the new job process in a long time - almost eight years - so it’s been a weird experience to say the least.

Making it even more interesting is that I started two weeks ago here in Beijing, and before I barely knew where the bathroom was, I was shipped off to Hong Kong for a week.  The practice group I’m in is HQ’d in Hong Kong, so I was there to meet the team, etc.

And now, back up to the Beijing office, where I resume my duties from a week ago, with the extra head start this time of already knowing where the bathroom is located, not to mention where to find the coffee.

I rationalized a blogging-free period while I went through my first week here.  Seemed reasonable that I should focus on the new environment.

Last week, I toted my laptop down to Hong Kong, dutifully expecting to blog at night from my hotel room. I forgot one thing - the better the hotel in Hong Kong, the more chance that they charge you extra for Internet access. Bummer. I was getting all the web I wanted at the office during the day, but I really couldn’t see springing for the extra fees just to update the old blog. Shows you where my priorities are, eh?

So now that I’m back in Beijing, no more excuses.
