AmCham - Best Practices in Running a Low-Cost IP Protection Program

Good event yesterday
morning, my first AmCham thing since I moved over to DLA Piper. Three excellent
speakers, from the U.S. Embassy, QBPC, and MPA. We were pointedly told that the
event was “off the record” so I will not get into details, many of
which were technical anyway. Goodness knows I wouldn’t want to bore anyone.

I will say
this, however. For folks that are resident in China, these IP events are going on
all the time and are a great resource, particularly for in-house lawyers and corporate types that
are just getting started with anti-counterfeiting issues. The cost-benefit
calculation is pretty easy - the meeting I attended was either 100 or 250 RMB,
depending on your membership status with AmCham. What you got for that was over
two hours of expert advice, plus Q&A, plus a chance to talk to the speakers
afterwards. I won’t comment on the breakfast — bleah.
