Virtual Addiction

A Chinese man dropped dead after playing Internet games for three consecutive days, state media said on Monday, as China seeks to wean Internet addicts offline.

Having spent more than a few hours in various Internet cafes throughout China this sad story comes as no surprise. Many cafe visitors in one cafe were regulars … I mean they were there in there same seats every single time I was present (hell, I myself was a regular back at that time). They did everything from their seats. They ate chang (those nasty sausage in red plastic) and bowl after bowl of wan mian; they drank (bottle after bottle of soda); they smoked (box after box of cigarettes); they called their friends with there cellphones; they slept all while rarely moving from their chair in front of the computer. I guess if you spend enough days, weeks or months following this sort of lifestyle the effects are sure to lead to health problems.
