… there are several parallels between the New York Yankees and the People’s Republic of China. They’re both overpowering empires shrouded in mystery and nationalistic fervor. They’re founded on the principle that the collective interest always outweighs the individual. China doesn’t have names on the back of its uniforms either. They’re not only wealthier than everybody else; they’re subsidizing them.

Fun reading for the China watchers who are also baseball fans.
