Imagethief celebrated his birthday in the office in Shanghai today. True, it was a bit late, but better late than never. We had a nice cake and various other naughty treats. At the party the Shanghai Managing Director announced that I would be moving back to Beijing this weekend. Most of the staff knew I was going, although few knew it would be this soon. This was followed by two or three minutes of heartfelt appreciation from them for my time in the Shanghai office, best wishes, etc.

That was followed by fifteen minutes of passionate debate as to the best way to get from Shanghai to Kunshan for the office hairy crab feast on November 10th. This ultimately required the creation of a three person steering committee to resolve hairy-crab-eating logistics issues.

Now I know where I rank. It was chastening. As much as I am looking forward to going back to Beijing, I'll miss the gang here.
