Mega-department system for next cabinet 大部委制
“We will step up our efforts to streamline government organs, explore ways to establish greater departments with integrated functions”, President Hu Jintao said in his report delivered at the 17th national congress of CPC.
It is reported that a new administrative body, called Ministry of Energy would be set up at the National People’s Congress next year. Coal mining, crude oil, electricity, renewable energy bodies will be unified under this new department, according to Zheng Xinli, a senior official of the Central Policy Research Office, a think tank for the CPC,
“The new system of mega-department will improve the government’s efficiency,” he told a news conference yesterday.
Asia Weekly banned in the mainland China?
A subscriber to the Asia Weekly was informed of the Hong Kong-based magazine being banned. So he has to change his subscription.
“It is due to the instruction from the higher authority.” according to A member of staff of the China National Publications Imports & Exports Corporation, the agent of the magazine. However, he did not give any further explanation.
I feel sorry to hear that because I can’t read my favorite magazine any more, perhaps.
