True philosopher/Genuine diplomats

What is a true philosopher? Plato tells me that a true philosopher must be the sightseer of the truth. He perceives things in themselves. He is awake rather than sleep. He has knowledge while everyone has mere belief or opinion.

I went to the church together with Fu Yongjia yesterday and bought a Holy Bile. It cost me 60 yuan, a little expensive because it was the new international version with Chinese-English bilingual text. However, it's worth a lot more if I can take it in.

What does modernization mean for China?
First, we should transform into a nation state from universal state. Secondly, we should build an industrialized yet socialized national economy. Thirdly, we should establish reasonable also scientific moral standards and social system. Fourthly, we should develop professional science and humanities. Fifthly, we should popularize education for all the citizens; lastly, we should establish democracy. Then we can realize modernization.

Tand Degang, a Chinese historian in the USA said in his book The 70 years of Latter Qing Dynasty.

Mr. Tang thinks that there are only two genuine skillful diplomats in modern Chinese history, one is Li Hongzhang, and the other Zhou Enlai. As a matter of fact, Gu Weijun is also highly competent. I totally agree with Mr. Tang on this point, as I deeply admire these three capable figures.
