Don’t delay, junta!

A team of climbers fulfilled a long-held goal of the Chinese government through carrying the Olympic torch to the summit of Mount Everest yesterday, which dominated today's headlines in China, as it should be. I doubt whether it is essential to put so many news reports on the Olympics. Some people may be overwhelmed by such propaganda campaign. As for the torch relay on the peak of Everest, Chinese government wants to claim its sovereignty over the world's highest mount, as some overseas groups said.

US defense secretary Gates said no aid was dropped in cyclone Myanmar, because it should get the military government's permission, while up to 1.5 million people were believed to be facing danger of starvation and hunger. Can the junta ignore those poor people? Don't delay! Fortunately, UN officials yesterday urged them to open its door to supplies and aid workers. God blessed those victims of disaster!

Asian Development Bank granted a $500,000 million loan to some countries in Asia-Pacific to face and tackle the food crisis and improve poor people's life there, announced its chief at its annual conference in Madrid.
